REPORT TO THE GENERAL PURPOSE AND ADMINISTRATION COMMITTEE
MEETING OF SEPTEMBER 17, 1984.
REPORT NO.: WD -77 -84
SUBJECT: RELEASE OF A SUBDIVISION AGREEMENT
BETWEEN THE CORPORATION OF THE
TOWNSHIP OF DARLINGTON (FORMER) AND
JOHN WILLIAM WATSON, REGISTERED AS
INSTRUMENT NO. N16686.
RECOMMENDATION:
It is respectfully recommended:
1. That this report be received; and,
2. That the Town solicitor be instructed to take. the
necessary steps for release of the subdivision
agreement between the Corporation of the Township of
Darlington (former) and John William Watson,
registered as Instrument No. N 16686; and,
3> That a by -law authorizing the Mayor and Clerk to issue
a Certificate of Release on behalf of the Town be
passed; and,
4. That the law firm of Crotin Palter be advised of
Council's actions in this matter.

REPORT:
Through a real estate transaction, it was found that there
exists a 1962 subdivision agreement covering residential
subdivision lots on Watson Drive in the Cedar Crest Beach
area in Bowmanville (formerly Darlington Township). In
essence, the agreement provided that the lots created would
be cottage lots and that winter maintenance would not be
provided by the municipality. However, for at least as long
as the Town of Newcastle has existed, full maintenance of
Watson Drive has been provided by the Town. In light of
this and the fact that the subdivision agreement is no
longer relevant, it is recommended that the necessary
actions be taken for its release.
