Report No. WD-34-87
BACKGROUND:
On February 2, 1987, a petition was received from residents of Haydon
requesting improvements to storm drainage and road quality on King Street
from Concession Road 8 to Nelson Street (see attached). On February 9, 1987
and on March 9, 1987, Resolutions # C-127-87 (attached) and # C-262-87
(attached) respectively, were passed referring the Haydon petition to Public
Works for review and report.
REPORT:
The condition of King Street in Haydon has been reviewed and has been found
to have deteriorated seriously over the winter months. Base reconstruction
and the installation of a piped storm sewer are recommended for 1987 and,
although the final design is not yet completed, it is expected that the cost
of the reconstruction project will be in the order of $80,000. to $85,000.
There was $20,000. reallocated from the summer maintenance road account for
the Haydon project as part of the budget process on March 20, 1987. The
1987 Budget also included $125,000. for an intersection realignment at
Liberty Street and Ontario Street to proceed only if the requested $62,500.
supplementary funding was approved by M.T.C. M.T.C. has not approved the
Town 's request for this funding, therefore, it is recommended that the
$62,500. from the tax levy for the Liberty Street/Ontario Street project be
reallocated to the Haydon project.
Respectfully submitted, Recommended for presentation
to the Committee,
Gordon J. Ough, P. Eng. , Lawren _ . Kotseff,
Director of Public Works. Chief Ad i istrative Officer.

Dear Mr . Ough :
We the undersigned feel that improvements need to be made
in the hamlet oC Haydon - specifically King Str.cet ( south
portion between Concession 8 and Nelson Street ) . The residents
and their visitors are presently faced with unacceptably
large pot-ho]-cs on King St. and poor water drainage due to
the lack of ditches .
We would like to see results to these problems in the early
Spring as the increased water level will. compound the existing
problems .
