REPORT NO. : WD-2-85 SUBJECT: ONTARIO HYDRO TRANSMISSION LINE EXPANSION RECOMMENDATION: It is respectfully recommended: That this report be received for information . REPORT: i In December, 1984, Public Works staff were advised by Ontario Hydro Forestry personnel that they would be building a second 500-kilowatt line from Darlington Generating Station to Cherrywood Transfer Station, and that in order to facilitate construction of the new tower line, some trees on the Town of Newcastle's road allowances would have to be removed. The new transmission line is to be built on the existing acquired Right of Way, Lot 21 and Concession 7, Darlington, to the east and north of the present transmission line. The trees to be removed have been reviewed and authorized by Public Works staff. All d Page 2 REPORT NO. WD-2-85 wood derived from the cut trees will be disposed of in accordance with the Town 's policy for tree removal . Ontario Hydro has agreed to contribute $5,335.00 to the Town's roadside tree planting account as compensation for the tree removal . This amount is based on approximately 100 roadside trees at $50.00 each, and an additional $335.00 for the wood lot value of the unopened portion of the Fourth Concession. The replacement trees will be planted in 1985 in accordance with the Town of Newcastle' s Quality Standard for planting of trees along Town roads. Repectfully submitted, R.G. Dupuis , P.
