WD-40-85 Halminen Homes Ltd. , have approached the Planning and Public Works Departments to obtain permission to install a brick pier and wrought iron fence along the south side of Nash Road abutting their residential development in the Dr. King and Blackcreek Subdivisions. The pier location, as shown on the attached sketch, will be within the one foot reserves created to control access to Nash Road. It is felt that the fence will contribute to controlling access as well as improving the appearance of the subdivision. The fence will incorporate non-functional decorative entrance gates at the intersection of Carriage Lane and Nash Road, and Valleycrest and Nash Road. The entrance gates are to be set back on private property outside the site triangle so as to not interefere with the motorists' site lines. Public Works and Planning staff have discussed the fence installations with respresentatives of Halminen Homes and recommend that Halminen Homes be authorized, through the issuance of a Road Occupancy Permit, to install the fence and gates in accordance with the recommendations of this report.
