SUBJECT: EXTENSION OF DRAFT APPROVAL - GUDJA SUBDIVISION
PART LOT 28, CONCESSION 1, NEWCASTLE VILLAGE

RECOMMENDATIONS:
It is respectfully recommended that the General Purpose and Administration
Committee recommend to Council the following:
1. THAT Report PD-255-87 be received; and
2. THAT the Ministry of Municipal Affairs be advised that the Town of
Newcastle has no objections to the extension of draft approval for
subdivision 18T-76021 for a further one (1) year period to December 30,
1988.
BACKGROUND AND COMMENT:
On September 28, 1987 the Planning Department received a copy of a letter
(attached) from the Ministry of Municipal Affairs addressed to Crotin, Palter, the
solicitors acting for Mr. S. Gudja. The letter indicates that draft approval of
the subdivision 18T-76021 will lapse on December 30, 1987.
Staff have reviewed the status of the proposed subdivision and the conditions of
draft approval as previously issued and would recommend that the Ministry of

Municipal Affairs be advised that the Town of Newcastle has no objections to the
further extension of draft approval for a one (1) year period to December 30,
1988.
Staff would acknowledge for the Committee's information that the conditions of
draft approval as previously issued are consistent with present Town Policy in
the review of plans of subdivision.

Draft approval of the above subdivision will lapse
on December 30, 1987. If you are interested in
pursuing final approval please send us a request
for extension of draft approval stating reasons, in
advance of the lapsing date, with copies to the
local area municipality and regional planning
departments. In order to identify any potential
problems I recommend that you also discuss the
extension with the local planning department.
By a copy of this letter we are asking both local
area and regional municipalities to advise us of
their position on the extension request. if we do
not hear from them we will assume they have no
objections. If there are any concerns with the
requested extension we will contact you in advance
of the lapsing date.
Please remember that once draft approval has
lapsed, it cannot be reinstated and a new
application will have to be submitted to the Region
of Durham.
