RECOMPIENDATIONS:
it is respectfully recommended that the General Purpose and Administration Committee
recommend to Council the follovaing:
1. TFIAT Report PD-235-87 be received.
BACKGROU(VD AND COP1flENT:
At the General Purpose and Administration Committee fleeting of July 6, 1987 the Committee
approved Resolution #GPA-606-87 requesting the Chief Building Official to undertake a site
inspection of the West Beach Area and to report back on building activity.
* Several inspections were undertaken from July 20, 1987 to August 5, 1987 and the attached
report submitted to me. It would appear, from same, that there is no building activity
ongoing for which permits are required except those instances where permits have been
issued.

$U$,1ECT; ACTIVITY RELATED TO BUILDING - WEST BEACH AREA
Several site inspections were made to the West Beach area from
July 20, 1987 to August 5, 1987.
The building at 63 has asphalt paper and strapping on the exterior
walls and appears to be in the process of having siding
installed. A building permit is not required for the installation
of siding:
Number 55 (Feather property) is being restored to a safe condition
as a result of a property standards complaint.
A permit was issued in 1986 for work at number 43.
The old dance hall appears to have had a new metal roof installed
but no work was evident that required a permit.
At number 36 it appeared to be having some plumbing done and the
owner attended this office for a permit before we contacted him.
Other than the foregoing, there was no building activity in the
area requiring permits.

At a regular meeting of Council held Monday, July 13, 1987, the
following recommendation was approved:
"That the Chief Building Official undertake a site
inspection of the West Beach Area and report to the
General Purpose and Administration Committee on any`
activity related to the buildings in the area.
That the Director of Planning review and report on the
implications of rezoning the east and west beach area
from the east of Cove Road to the west of Simpson Avenue."
