RECOhtt~EtdDATIONS:
It is respectfully recommended that the General Purpose and Administration
Committee recommend to Council the following:
1. THAT Report PD-306-87 be received; and
2. THAT Staff be provided with the appropriate direction in respect of the
street names for Plan of Subdivision 18T-85018 (Townline Estates) as
proposed by the applicant; and
3. THAT a copy of Council's decision be forwarded to the applicant.
BACKGROUND AND COMMENT:
On October 15, 1987, the Planning Department received a letter from the consultant
for 591415 Ontario Limited proposing that the street names "Prince Rupert Drive"
and "Lord Duncan Court" be reserved for Plan of Subdivision 18T-85018 (Townline
Estates). The consultant has indicated that the names represent important
personages in both Oni:ario's and Canada's history, in particular the Hudson's Bay
Company.

In Staff's opinion, the proposed street names do not comply with Council's
policy of naming new streets after locally signficant historical persons.
Therefore, Staff is respectfully seeking Council's direction in this matter.
