A by -law to amend By -law Number.71 -10.
WHEREAS the Council of The Corporation of the Village of Newcastle
enacted By -law Number 71 -10, being a by -law to regulate the use of
land and the erection and use of buildings and structures in the
Village of Newcastle, on the 26th day of March, 1971; and
Whereas the Council of the Corporation of the Village of Newcastle deems
it expedient that By -law Number 71 -10 be amended;
NOW THEREFORE THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CORPORATION OF THE VILLAGE
OF NEWCASTLE, enacts as follows:
1. That By -law Number 71 -10 be and the same is hereby amended by
rescinding paragraph 10 and substituting therefore the following:
10. This By -law shall take effect from the date it
is passed by the Council, and shall come into
force upon receiving the approval of the Ontario
Municipal Board.

THE CORPORATION OF THE VILLAGE OF NEWCh-__E
EXPLANATORY NOTE TO BY -LAW NUMBER 71 -10 AND
AMENDING BY -.LAW NUMBER 71 -11
By -law Number 71 -10 has been passed by the Council of the Village
of Newcastle to introduce necessary land use control to prevent
premature development for that portion of the municipality lying
north of the C.P.R. right -of -way for an interim period, pending the
early preparation of a comprehensive Zoning By -law and Official Plan
for the entire municipality.
By -Law Number 71 -11 is an amendment to By -law Number 71 -10, enacted
to remove the specific time limit of one year in accordance with
current legal procedural requirements.
A Newcastle Planning Board will be appointed as soon as the Minister
of Municipal Affairs defines the land within the Corporate limits of
the Village of Newcastle as a Planning Area. This proposed Board will
be charged with the responsibility of preparing forthwith an Official
Plan and a comprehensive Zoning By -law for the Village, having due
regard to public comment and representations.
