BY -LAW NO. 71 -29
To authorize the construction of a sidewalk on Scugog
Street
WHEREAS the Council of the Municipal Corporation of the Town of
Bowmanville deems it expedient and necessary in the interests of the future
development of the Tovm of Bovmanville and in the interest of the safety of
pedestrians and school children to construct a sidewalk on the west Bide of
Scugog Street running northerly from Fourth Street a distance of 5,480.,,feete
NOW THEREFORE the Council of the Municipal Corporation of the Town
of Bowmanville pursuant to the Municipal Act, R.S.O. 1960, Chapter 249,
Section 459 (1) (e) HEREBY ENACTS AS FOLLOWS:
1. The Town of Bowmanville shall construct an asphalt sidewalk on the west
side of Scugog Street running northerly from. Fourth Street for a distance
of 5,480 feet at a total estimated cost of $12,925.00.
2. That the said work shall be constructed under the supervision and
direction of the Town Engineer.
3. That the Mayor and Clerk be and are hereby authorized to cause a contract
for the construction of the said work to be made and entered into With
some person or persons, firm or corporation, subject to the approval of
the Council to be declared by resolution; and that the Mayor and Clerk be
and are hereby further authorized to do all acts and sign all documents
and affix the Corporate Seal of the Tovm thereto as may be necessary in
connection with the making of contracts and other matters for the
completion of the said undertaking or work.
4. The cost of the said work shall be raised by the issue and sale of
debentures payable in installments within ten years.
5. The Treasurer of the Municipality is hereby authorized to make arrangements
and sign any necessary documents to arrange temporary advances of money to
meet the cost of the work pending the completion of the work and the sale
of debentures.
6. This by -law shall not take effect until it receives the approval of the
Ontario Municipal Board under Section 64 (1) of The Ontario Municipal
Board Act.
