WHEREAS under The Highway Improvement Act a ;by -law to provide for
expenditures on roads or streets may be submitted annually to the Minister of
Highways for approval.
THEREFORE the Council of the Corporation of the said Town /Village enacts
as 1follows:
(1) The sum of $. ... .....................is hereby estimated as the expenditure
upon the construction and maintenance of the roads and bridges under its jurisdic-

expenditure is authorized or work commenced which will be financed by the issue'
of debentures or monies raised in a subsequent year. r

Re: 1971 Subsidy Allocation
Reference By -law No. 8 With
Supporting Statement of Proposed Expenditure
'The Honourable Charles MacNaughton, Minister of Transportation
and Communications, has authorized a subsidy allocation based on the above -
noted by -law and supporting statement of expenditures in the amounts of
$ 40, 000. for Construction
$ 21, 750. for Maintenance
$ 61,750 -• Total
Please note that where expenditures produce subsidy amounts in
excess of either of the above limits, the excess amounts will not be eligible
for consideration unless covered by a supplementary request approved by the
Minister. Supplementary requests for unavoidable expenditures in excess of the
normal allotment will be considered, but such requests should be submitted
prior to May 31st, 1971. Requests submitted after that date may not be consi-
dered for approval until March 1972, the end of the 1971 -72 fiscal year.
This approval is given subject to the approval of each individual
work of construction and of contracts for construction or maintenance.
The approval of the Ontario Municipal Board shall be obtained before
any expenditure is authorized or work commenced which will be financed by the
issue of debentures or monies raised in years subsequent to the term of the
present Council.
One copy of the submission as approved is returned herewith.
