Being a By-law to amend By-law No. 1997,
a by-law to authorize a project in
Observance and Commemoration of the
Centennial.

V,J'HE1'?REA3 on the 21st day of November, 1966, Council did
finalll, T pass By-law No. 1997 providing for the construction and
equipping of certain facilities in Lord Elgin and Memorial Parks
in observance of the Centennial;
AND WHEREAS it is learned that the said parks may be
defined as Community Centres and therefore eligible for grant's
under the provisions of the Community Centres Act, 1961 and the
Regulations made thereunder;
AND WHEREAS Council has passed a by-law establishing
Lord Elgin Park and Memorial Park as Community Centres within the
meaning the Community Centres Act, 1961;

NOW THEREFORE the Council of the Corporation of the
Town of Bowmanville hereby ENACTS that By-law No. 1997 be amended
as follows: .
1. In Section 1:
Delete the first four lines and substitute the following;

"1. That in observance and commemoration of the Centennial,
the Corporation shall (1) prepare, grade and drain the
site, construct, erect and instal basketball and
softball backstops, wading pool, playground equipment
and asphalt play lot at an estimated cost of $13,653-00
in Lord Elgin Park, and,
