HomeMy WebLinkAbout67-13THE CORPORATION OF THE TOWN OF BOIZIANVILLE BY -LAW NO. 67 -13 Being a by -law to prohibit the erection of wooden buildings or wooden additions within the limits of the Town of Bowmanville. `_WHEREAS Council deems it in the interest of fire safety to extend the "fire - limits" beyond those limits established in the year 1923; NOW THEREFORE the Council of the Corporation of the Town of Bowmanville, pursuant to the provisions of Section 379(1) paragraph 32 of The Municipal Act, R.S.O. 1960, Chapter 249, hereby ENACTS AS FOLLOWS: 1. No buildings or additions to them shall be erected within the limits of the Town of Bowmanville unless they conform to the following: All exterior walls, columns, beams and arches of non combustible construction and having interior load bearing walls, partitions, columns, beams and arches of construction having a three - quarter hour fire resistance rating and having the roof covered with a non ccm bustible roofing material. 2. For the purpose of Section 1, "non- combustible roofings' shall mean: Slate, burnt clay, felt and gravel or asphalt, when applied in accordance with the National Building Code. 3, All roofs of any wooden or wooden roughcase or the roof of ONC any building that shall or may require to be covered or repaired and which it will be necessary to execute to the extent of more than one half of the whole value or cost of such covering of roof of which such building was then covered or roofed and if such building was not roofed with a non - combustible roofing material, then in order to make the said building more fire proof, it shall be repaired or roofed with a non - combustible roofing material; 4. This by -law shall take effect on and from the date of final passing thereof; 5. By -law No. 1073 and all by -laws at .variance with this by -law be and the same are hereby repealed. Clerk Clerk
