WHEREAS under The Highway Improvement Act a by -law to provide for
expenditures on roads or streets may be submitted annually to the Minister of
Highways for approval.
THEREFORE the Council of the Corporation of the said Town /Village enacts
as follows:
(1) The sum of $......' 5,.? .............is hereby estimated as the expenditure
upon the construction and maintenance of the roads and bridges under its jurisdic-
tion during the year 19U..... as follows:

(2) The said monies shall be expended on work performed in accordance with
The Highway Improvement Act.
(3) The clerk shall transmit triplicate copies of this by -law to the district office
of the Department of Highways Ontario, not later than March 31st, of the said year.
(4) The approval of the Ontario Municipal Board shall be obtained before any
expenditure is authorized or work commenced which will be financed by the issue
of debentures or monies raised in a subsequent year.

was previously approved in part, has been given further
consideration.
As a result, the Honourable George E. Gomme, Minister
of Highways, has authorized a further approval in the
following amount:

This letter, together with the endorsed copy of the
above by -law now in your possession, will indicate the total
amount now approved. Should you wish to have the additional
amount endorsed on your copy of the by -law, please return it
to this office.

Dear Sir: Re: Supplementary Road Expenditure
By -law No. 69 -9
Amount - $ 156,000.00
The Honourable George E. Gomme, Minister of Highways,
has authorized the approval of the above cited by -law to a
limit of
$ 150,000.00 for Construction, and
$ _ for Maintenance
$ 150,000.00 Total
The approval is given subject to the following
conditions:
1. That the individual works of road construction and
bridge construction shall be subject to the approval
of the District Engineer.
2. That tenders for work to be undertaken by contract
shall be publicly advertised and Department subsidy
shall apply on the amount of the lowest tender only
unless the Municipal Engineer approves subsidy on
a higher tender.
3. In the event that any portion of the cost of the
proposed work or purchase is to be raised in a subsequent
year or financed by the issue of debentures, the
approval of the Ontario Municipal Board must be
obtained before the work or purchase is authorized

or any commitment made with respect thereto.
