By -law No. 68 -8
A by -law to provide for exemption of farm
lards from taxation for certain expenditures.
WHEREAS certain lands held in blocks of not less than five acres and used
as farm lards only are not benefitted to as great an extent by the expenditure of
monies for and on account of public improvements as other lands in the municipality;
AND WHEREAS in the year 1967 the expenditures in respect to Garbage
Collection amounted to $34,544.41 which amount represents 3.67 mills;
AND WHEREAS in the year 1967the expenditures in respect to asphalt road
maintenance amounted to $8,317.55 which amount represents .88 mills;
AND WHEREAS in the year 1967 the expenditures in respect to street
lighting exclusive of capital expenditures out of current revenue amounted to
$13,479.06 which amount represents 1.43 mills;
AND WHEREAS the total taxable assessment made in 1966 for 1967 taxation
is $9,417,996.;
NOW THEREFORE the Council of the Corporation of the Town of Bowmanville
pursuant to the provisions of Section 37 of The Assessment Act, R.S.O. 1960,
Chapter 23, hereby ENACTS AS FOLLOWS:
1. That the farm lands described in Schedule "All attached hereto and forming
part of this by -law shall be exempted from taxation for the expenditures of
the municipality incurred for garbage collection, pavements and street
lighting, regard being had in determining such exemption to any advantage,
direct or indirect, to such lands arising from such expenditures or any of
them.
READ a first, second and third time and finally passed this 27 day of
February, 1968.
