3.1 Update on Inclusive Communities Grant Application
Jeannette shared that the Municipality was successful and will be receiving
approximately $59,000 to implement up to 8 charging sites across the municipality in
local parks, and accessible recreational trails. Focus of grant was to get people outside
and be active given that people couldn't access internal facilities during the pandemic
but recognize getting outside could be a barrier for those that use a mobility devise that
requires a charge.

Some charging locations will be where hydro is available; other areas will need to
source solar powered options (i.e. benches with solar panels attached to them). Located
along trail heads to ensure safety of users and the equipment.
Additional considerations for charging stations discussed by the Committee:
• Signage at entrance to the various trails/paths to advise that there are accessible
charging stations available;
• Signage indicating that charging priority to be given to mobility devices;
• Accessible benches with extra -long pads;
• Proposed design of the benches — no arms on side, with one arm in the middle
