HomeMy WebLinkAbout2012-02-20 MinutesMEETING OF ORONO CEMETERY BOARD OF DIRECTORS Feb 20, 2012 DIRECTORS PRESENT: Barbara Carman, Fran Quantrill, Betty Lycett, Viola Vanderveen, Helen Schmid, Wendy Partner, Lydia Carman, Tienus Vanderveen, Merrill Graham and Sebold Wesselius(caretaker). Chair Viola Vanderveen opened the meeting at 1.15 PM after the Lot Holders meeting. Minutes of the May 30 ,2011 meeting were read. Correction of Merrill's name was made.. Wendy Partner moved that the minutes be adopted, seconded byHelen Schmid. Carried. No correspondence. Old Business: Fran inquired about boxes at base of Niche. Barbara inquired about the perennials in the spring. Betty and Viola will contact John Larecy if any of the trees or perennials do not survive the winter as he has guaranteed them. We will also look up about the boxes for the base of the Niche for people to stand their flowers in. New Business: 1) Spring Walk -Around was set for May 30,2012 at 1:00 PM. 2) Decoration Sunday is to be June 24, 2012 with a service being held in the Chapel at 1 PM. Bonnie Reid and Joyce Gray are to be asked to lead the service. 3) Sebold Wessilius resigned from the cemetery as Caretaker and Grounds Keeper. Betty & Viola will put an Ad in the Orono Weekly Times until Mar 17, 2012 for a new Caretaker & Grounds Keeper. The deadline for all applications is to be Mar 15, 2012. Starting Wage was set at $14.00 with it subject to change. A meeting will be held at the Chapel on March 17 at 10 AM to go over the applications by the Board of Directors. Interviews will be held on March 24, 2012. Sebold said he would stay on until April 1, 2012. 4) Tienus Vanderveen was asked he would like to continue as a Part-time assistant. Tienus declined. We will first get a Full-time Caretaker. 5) Barbara Carman thanked Sebold for all his help while working at the Cemetery. The Board of Directors showed their appreciation as well.
