on Tuesday, April 20, 2021.
4. Review of Agenda
No updates were received for the agenda.
5. New Members for Subcommittee
The Subcommittee recently lost a member who moved out of the area. The
Subcommittee is currently sitting at 5 members and could have up to 8 members as
outlined in the Terms of Reference. (Note: Erica and Samantha are considered staff
liaisons from Municipality of Clarington and Clarington Public Library). Jasmyne is
interested in becoming a member and was confirmed as such during the meeting.
Meera asked that members share information about the Subcommittee and its work
with their networks to invite potential new members to attend an upcoming meeting and
learn more about how they can be involved. Erica will provide some information that
could be shared.

Erica will be taking the information that was submitted by Committee and
Subcommittee members to draft a response to the Durham Black Accountability
Coalition.
7. Subcommittee Information on Diversity Advisory Committee page
Information about the Anti -Black Racism Subcommittee has been included on
Clarington's website: https://www.clarington.net/en/town-hall/diversity-advisory-
committee.asp. Meera asked Erica if meeting minutes and agendas could also be
included on this page. Erica will check with the Clerks Department to see what is
possible.
8. Virtual Event Update
Members thanked the working group members for the success of the event. Samantha
reported that 61 people were registered for the event; at its peak, there was 36
attendees online. This is a good percentage of registration to attendance.
Angela sent out thank you letters to all our panelists and each received a thank you gift.
There were some outstanding questions from the event and our panelists are providing
information for a response that can be shared with all attendees.
9. Durham Committee / Task Force
Rochelle suggested that there could be a benefit to coordinate our efforts and
collaborate with other similar groups in other municipalities. Grassroots groups should
also be included in this collaboration. Meera suggested there would be some
connecting that could occur while we wait for the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Group
at the Region to formalize and initiate discussions.
Erica to create a list of contacts for municipal committees and reach out to the new
group at the Region to determine their plan / timeline for connection. If members are
aware of points of contact for grassroots organizations, please share with Erica. Erica
will create a database of contact information.
10. Update on Anti -Racism Policy and Anti -Black Racism Strategy
Meera advised that the working group looking at the Anti -Racism Policy and Anti -Black
Racism Strategy will provide an update and share their progress at the May 12
