Submission
As a matter of record this property was visited -by the
Committee on Friday, Iiarch 21, 1969.
This was an applicatign to sever about one acre of land
from the family farm of about 180 acres.
P'ir. Cochrane's son, James Bruce Cochrane, presently works
at General Motors of Canada and wishes to build a house on the
proposed severance in order to assist with the farming operation.
The Committee noted the following facts:
(1) Referred to the preliminary argument presented.
by the applicant's agent, v1. Kay Lycett;
noted the facts contained in the Sworn Affidavit
signed by James Bruce Cochrane (ref. minutes
March 11, 1969:. and
upon visiting the site and having the exact location pointed out
to them by Mr. Cochrane Sr., took the following matters into
account in reaching their preliminary decision:
(1) The farming operation conducted by Mr. Cochrane is
a bona fide family farm of 180 acres, plus. One
of the factors convincing the Committee that this
was a bona fide farming operation was that it has
been carried on for the lifetime of Mr. Ccchr-.ne Sr.,
and the son was born and raised on the property;
(2) The applicant being 73 years of age, it is reasonable
to suppose he requires the assistance of his son
to continue the family operation;
(1) The site chosen for the house is well drained and
faces on an adequate side road, far enough away
from Highway 435 so that no interference with the
Highway will be occasioned by the construction of a
house.
Moved by K. Schoenmaker and seconded by E.F.R. Osborne
that the applicant's agent be requested to submit a proper
Plan of Survey, prepared by an Ontario L,
matter may be given further considerati.oi
