Rain Barrels
1.1 George Rickard represented the Lions—proposed joint venture in selling rain
barrels. Could make profit of$10.00 per barrel sold. Lions will be selling them
on Toronto St on May 28 and thought we could coordinate Yard Sale on May 28
with this venture. Cut off date for orders are May 14. Barrels are preordered and
sold at our convenience.
Hotel California Fundraiser Report
2.1 Discussed event—overall the event went extremely well, raising just under
$11,000.00. It was felt that having the munchies, pricing,timing and the cause
were main contributing factors to the success. Jeany felt she should have
mentioned the donation coupon on stage and will do so in the future. Extra
posters will be held on to in case they are needed for the future. Jeany will have
"thank you notes" sent to sponsors. It was felt that more staff for the 50/50 and
bar should be considered for next concert. Many positive comments received by
committee members for the overall event.
Jeany thanked everyone on committee for contributing to an"Awesome" event.
New Business
3.1 Set up booth at Farmers Market when it opens
3.2 Pat will promote at Maple Fest in May
3.3 Plant Sale is May 7 in parking lot of Community Hall
3.4 Suggested fundraiser selling bricks, committee members thought this was doable
3.5 Think about how we would like to acknowledge sponsors when garden is done
i.e. wall of fame, plaque of some sort...
3.6 Email from Old Newcastle House they will be holding golf tournament on May
29 and donating proceeds to this project. Gabrielle will get in touch to see what
kind of help they need from us.
3.7 Email from New Massey House they would like to donate to Hotel California,
suggested that they donate to next event so we can advertise them as a sponsor.
3.8 Barry is proceeding with plans for Sunday brunch in October 2011 in conjunction
with Durham College. Barry will be our Project Manager for this event.
3.9 Gabrielle will book Stars of Pop for June 19—Gord will work on sponsors for this
event,,,
3.10 March 312012 to be booked for adult concert Beach Party Boys.
3.11 Jeany has been invited to speak at Kaitlin Group on Project.
