(416)263-2231 INFORMATION REPORT TO COUNCIL May 14,'1979 I' l SUBJECT: Planning and DevelopmentCommitteeChairman's Report of Meeting Held on March 30, 1979 Re: Newcastle Village Urban Area Plan BACKGROUND: On March 30th, 1979 the Planning and Development Committee made the following recommendation to Council: "Newcastle Village Urban Area Plan" that the Proposed Plan for the Urban "areas of Newcastle Village as presented by the Director of Planning and Development be,received for information and public input be sought at Public Meetings ;to be held in the Village of Newcastle; the plan be printed on newsprint and distributed to every household in the Village; the first meeting for information purposes only (Plan to be explained to the Public and Public requested to prepare written submissions and/or briefs to be discussed in two weeks), -second meeting to discuss written submissions and/or briefs arising out of the first meeting; meetings to be arranged by the Town Manager and the Planning Staff." i 5USIN€Ss,FROM PREVIOUS WEETING RESOLUTION #C-388-79 CORPORATION OF THE TOWN OF'NEWCASTLE PLAN N ING AND DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT D. During discussion of this item at Council, questions arose as to the size of the area covered by the proposed Newcastle Village Urban Area Plan. Specifically, Council Members requested information as to the size of the "Urban Area" as compared to the former boundaries of the Village of Newcastle. The attached map labelled "Existing LAND USE" shows the ' former .Village boundary anId the proposed hamletboundary. The proposed boundary is an interpretation of the Durham Regional Official Plan designations. It should be noted that "Schedule I LAND USE Structure Plan" includes lands outside of the proposed hamlet boundary. A portion of these lands are currently subject of an_ugcoming Ontario Municipal Board hearing under the Durham Regional Official Plan (R67) Staff anticipate i reporting to the Planning and Development Committee and Council on R67 in the context of the Re ional'Plan Municipal Board Hearings.
