REPORT ON LETTER, Reo HUM OF SOLINA
Nr. Ashton, who has submitted a plan of subdivision for a parcel
of land in the hamlet of Soling, wrote a letter oommending the Town
for initiating the development of a secondary plan for Newtonville
and requesting that such a study be initiated for the hamlet of
Soling.
The Interim District Plan provides that a Hamlet Plan must be
formulated before extensive new development other than minor
development or infilling is permitted. This plan would "take into
account the impact of hamlet extension on the local environment
with particular consideration given to adequacy" of such services as
"water supplies, storm drainage, methods of sewage disposal".
Solina has already been included in the terms of reference of the
Hamlet Servi.ees Study commissioned by the Region. Thms study
will reoommend methods for accommodating existing and future
development in these hamlets.
However, the future of development in Solina will be determined
by the final location of the Parkway Belt. The C.O.L.U.C. Study
shows a large area between the eastern boundary of the Town and
the Bowmanville Creek forming part of the proposed Parkway Belt East.
In conolusion, Council should be advised that a Hamlet Plan
for Solina would be premature until the location and function of
the Parkway Belt in this area has been finalized.
Respectfully submitted,
George F. Howden,
Planning Director.
