REPORT ON APPLICATION BY 262829 HOLDINGS
FOR CONVERSION OF 18 TOWNHOUSE UNITS
TO CONDOMINIUMS
This application is for the conversion of 18 Townhouse Units
to Condominiums. These units are located at Church and St.George
Street in Bowmanville.
At the present, there is a severe shortage of rental accom-
modation in Bowmanville. Every existing apartment building has a
waiting list. Conversion of these 18 units to a condominium could
increase this shortage unless the majority of units were purchased
by their present occupants. There would be no place in which the
families now occupying these houses could find alternative accom-
modation if they could not afford to purchase their units.
For this reason, it is recommended that Council circulate
the condominium proposal to the present occupants of the rental
units to determine whether or not the present tenants would favour
such a conversion.
