HomeMy WebLinkAboutPW Memo 82-76J. MEMORANDUM #82 November 29, 1976 TO: Mr. B. Tink, Chairman of the Public Works Committee FROM: J. Dunham, Director of Public Works SUBJECT: Station Street, Orono On November 22nd, 1976, the above-mentioned subject was referred to the Works Committee by the Committee of the Whole. Further to this, on May 17th, 1976, resolution #C-76-562, a copy of which is attached, Council agreed to acquire that portion of Station Street now owned by the C.N.R. and Ontario Government and dedicate as a public street. In Mr. Howden's report to the Committee of the Whole, apparently, the total cost to the Town for that portion owned by C.N.R. would be $1,200 plus appraisal and legal costs. I also refer to correspondence dated May 13th, 1976 whereby Durham County Senior Citizens Lodge guaranteed a maximum of $3,000 to acquire the mentioned land from C.N.R. Assuming this information is correct and in view of action taken by Council on May 17th, 1976, the decision has been made to acquire the land from both C.N.R. and the Ontario Government, and dedicate the same as a public street.
