HomeMy WebLinkAboutPW Memo 80-76TO: FROM SUBJECT: MEMORANDUM #80 November 29, 1976 Mr. B. Tink, Chairman of the Public Works Committee J. Dunham, Director of Public Works Proposed Sidewalk from Highway #2 to Waverley Road Due to the right-of-way contours, it would appear impractical to consider a sidewalk as such. This proposal would mean a sidewalk at one point would have to cross an existing ditch and continue behind the guide rail northerly to Highway X12. Maintenance of the same would be impossible. I have also considered the opposite side of the road, however, identical conditions prevail. In an attempt to eliminate mostly school children from walking on the road, which is a rather dangerous situation, consideration could be given to a paved shoulder on the south side. The existing shoulder varies in width, however, a width of approximately four feet for a distance of 1,137 feet could be paved. Further to this, line painting would be necessary such as a solid line indicating what is now the edge of pavement plus appropriate signs. Estimated cost for the above-mentioned is $1,500.00. Provision can be included in the 1977 budget if this proposal is concurred with. 1 I
