HomeMy WebLinkAboutPW Memo 68-76TO: FROM: SUBJECT DATE: MEMORANDUM A to MR. B. TINK, CHAIRMAN OF THE PUBLIC WORKS COMMITTEE J..DUNHAM, DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC WORKS LOT 21, PLAN 693 - ORONO, ESTATES SEPTEMBER 29, 1976 The above subject was tabled at the September 9, 1976, Public Works Committee Meeting until the next meeting. Apparently this lot was witheld from being built on by former Clarke Township, pending the possibilities of vehicle access. In 1974, the Ministry of Transportation and Commun- ications would not approve of vehicle access, being, it did not meet their criteria for set -back from 35 and 115 highway, without acquiring additional land from the existing cemetery. In 1975, Mr. Best and myself met with the Cemetery Board on site, and did discuss this matter, at which time the Board did oppose quite strongly conveying of any land to the Town for road purposes, due to their limited amount of land. Further to this, 'I think such a proposal would not enhance the appearance of the cemetery. I have discussed the lot size with Mr. Wightanda copy of his report is attached. It appears that if a 10 foot public walk -way was retained, the balance of the lot would not be sufficient in size to build on. To conclude, I would recommend that the Town decide what would be in the best interest to all concerned, example - a public walk -way or vehicle access remembering that, the latter would be sometime in the future. If it is decided to do anything, it would appear that the entire lot would have to be acquired.
