Dunham, Director of Public Works +' SUBJECT: King Street, Bowmanville *; DATE: September 1, 1976 At the last Public Works Committee meeting hel August 5th, 1976, the Committeerecommended tb deficiencies on King Street and it's high prio 41 be recognized further, that a meeting be arran ' with representatives from the Region and the V of Transportation and Communications. Upon writing to the prospective representative Dawson from M.T.C. did call and I requested 'tb come down on August 18th, 1976, to inspect and the mentioned subject due to the fact•he would vacation for a month commencing, August 20th,',l °s On the date mentioned, I did inspect and discs subject with Mr. Dawson who could not see the, for such a meeting at this time. Mr. Dawsons that since the section of King Street in quest within the connecting link and is under the To Newcastle's jurisdiction, it would therefore.b Town who should initiate'a proposal for recons which, when ,approved, would be eligible for ni' per cent subsidy under the connecting.link agr with the exception of sidewalks. He did agree it could be 'difficult to establish finished el of the sidewalks without ,considering the stree same time. Also, it would be three years befo construction could take place when considering § funding, etc. Mr. Richardson from the Region called in respo his letter; I believe in somewhat of a quan(}ai why the Region would be requested to attend su meeting at this time. I suggested he attend t Works Committee meeting to answer any question Committee might have. In conclusion, I would recommend the Committee to Council that preliminary engineering for Ki a., from Scugog to Temperance be initiated in 1977, wnicn could be provided for in the 1977 budget subject to M.T.C. concurrence.
