SUBJD CS; Renaming Lyeett Street and the associated purchase of
Lycett lands on Soper Creek.
DATE: April 6, 1976.
Further to our Memorandum No. 13, we take pleasure in submitting
the following progress report.
(1) Renaming Lycett Street.
(a) We are now in receipt of the following letter from
Earold and Marlene Hutton,
Dear I"Ir. II. R. Best:
Re: By-law No. 76-9 to change
Iynett Street to Mutton Court.
The Town of Newcastle certainly has our approval to use the
name Mitton in renaming Lycett Street.
We are glad that the Toon can grant Ian^. Lycett's request and
at the same time sustain the Mutton name in the Town, as the
family has lived here through several generations. It will be
a great memento of them.

Cameron, Manager, Current Operations Branch, Region of
Durham -
Dear Mr. Best:
Re: Renaminj of Lycett Street,

It's are in receipt of your letter dated 11arch 139 1976.
Please be advised that the street name "Hutton Court"
has been approved and added to the Regions street name
reserve list.
Should you have any questions, »lease do not hesitate to
contact this office.

(c) Appointment for Hearing.
The application of the Council of the Corporation of
The Town of Newcastle to change the name of Lycett Street
to Mutton Court will be considered by the Judge of the
County Court on Thursday, the 29th day of April, 1976, at
the hour of 10:00 a.m. at the Judge's Chambers at the
Court House, 605 Roseland Road, East, Whitby, at whioh
time and place those -advocating and opposing the change
will be heard.
(2) Purchase of Lycett lands on Soper Creel
We refer to resolution ` 11-500-75 and to W. K. Iycett'e
(Solicitor for 'Aim. L. I07cett) letter of November 26, 1975.
We have advised Mr. W. K. Lycett by letter dated March 259
19769 of the Tovm's intent to rename Iycett Street as
expressed in By-law No. 76-9 together with the information
as set out in section 1 of this memo.
In reply Mr. IVoett states as follows-

"I have your letter of March 25, 1976, together with
enclosures set forth seem to be satisfactory to us.
If you will have your surveyor provide us with a proper
description of the subject lands, I will then be in a
position to provide ,you with a draft deed".
Subsequent to receipt of Mr. Iyoett's letter, we have
requested Ma. M. D. Brown, O.L.S., to prepare a boundary
survey and description of the subject lands. This request
was mailed to Mr. Brown on Friday, April 2nd.
