SUBJECT: Status of Projects

Subdivisions:
Bowmanville:
Bowmanville Heights - Phases 1, 2. 1
Underground servicing complete - in the process of
being accepted for 2 years maintenance.
Base Coarse of asphalt only on roadways.
Wj,verl�Gardens - Phase 1
Minor repairs being completed including Base Line
Pumping Station. When completed satisfactorily, I
will recommend acceptance of subdivision to Council.
Waverly Gardens - Phase 2
Expropriation procedures under way presently for
storm sewer easement. Contractor scheduled to re-
commence work on underground services Monday, Feb. 4,
1974. Northerly half of subdivision has underground
services completed and base coarse of asphalt on
roadways.
Beau Valles
Underground services complete except for sanitary
sewer connection from Town pumping manhole on Base
Line Road to pumping station. We will probably
have to expropriate property for same. Base coarse
of asphalt on roadway.
Cean Investments
Underground services complete and base coarse of
asphalt on roadways. No housing construction yet.
Bowtown Construction
I have been attempting to negotiate an agreement
with the Developer to extend the trunk sanitary sewer
from Beau Valley Subdivision to this subdivision at
his expense, recoverable to the extent of his lot
levies, rather than installing a pumping system. I
would think that the details of said agreement should be
finalized and engineering drawings approved within 2 months.

Dali Developments
Underground servicing is presently being installed.
F & T Developments
A subdivision agreement was signed in 1969, but const-
ruction never commenced. I am trying to have amendments
made to said agreement to bring it up to present day
standards. Construction should commence in 6 - 8 weeks.
Lorraine Court
Underground servicing completed and base coarse of
asphalt laid. House construction under way.
Peter Louws, Lamers Bros.. Marianna Developments
These three small subdivisions are serviced and house
construction under way.
Village of Newcastle
I have been approached by Milani, Marianna Developments
and Dali Developments regarding proposed subdivisions.
However, the water supply is presently inadequate for
the existing population and will become worse as the
homeowners connect to the sanitary sewers presently
being completed.
I will be approaching a number of developers to see
if they would be willing to contribute 1.3 million
dollars (estimated) to construct a water filtration
plant. This cost would be recoverable to them to the
maximum of.their lot levies.
Construction Projects
Bowmanville•
West Beach Bridge
Design is basically completed (by Totten, Sims & Hubicki)
and necessary approvals applied for. Estimated cost is
$145,000.00 if constructed early this year. (Subsidy
from Ministry of Transportation & Communications would
be 80% or $116,00o.0o).
Prospect Street Storm Sewer
Second Street to O'Dell - design basically completed
by myself. Estimated cost $4o - V+5,000.00 Subsidy
rate 500.

Storm Sewer Study for Town of Bowmanviile
It will probably take me about a year to gather enough
information on existing storm sewer services and complete
the study on same.
Cemetary Road Sanita.rY Sewer
The sanitary sewer should be extended north from Base
Line Road to immediately south of the cemetary to
service industrial land on the west side of Cemetary
Road, if it is sold as such. No design commenced yet.
In discussions with J. Dunham and M. Ross, it was
mentioned that there might be some major road re-
construction in the Township areas. If so, I would
assume that I would carry out the design and field
work, then the construction could be carried out by
the Works Departments under J. Dunham or if tendered
out to Contractors, by my department.
