SUBJECT: Responsibilities of Director of Engineering
DATE: January 30, 1974
Further to our discussions regarding my concept of
the responsibilities of the Director of Engineering,
I would suggest the following:
1. Negotiation of all subdivision agreements with
the Planning Director and the Town Solicitors
for presentation to Council for approval.
2. Approval of Engineering drawings and specifications
for same.
3. Field inspection and approval of all subdivision
servicing.
4. Recommendations to Council for acceptance of
subdivisions.
5. Design of capital works projects, that is, bridges,
roads (complete reconstruction), storm sewers, etc.
either directly or via Consulting Engineers, and
subsequent inspection and supervision of said
construction.
6. Preparation of specifications and design of projects
at request of the Director of Public Works.
7. Advising Building Department, at their request, on
Engineering principals or feasability of building
designs.
8. In my capacity as Town Engineer of Bowmanville, I
acted as Traffic Engineer. Accordingly, I have
continued in said capacity in my new position.
This involves recommending ammendments to the
Traffic By-law and consultation with the Regional
Police Department with respect to school crossing
gaurds and alterations to existing traffic control
devices.
