SUBJECT: Street Lighting in the Town of Bowmanville
Further to the Public Works meeting of January
9, 1976 and a further meeting with Ivan Hobbs
on the same date, I have the following to re-
port.
It seems that a letter was sent to J. Descent
concerning the proposed street lig htin.v by Mor-
ley Watson which a copy was sent to myself.
Mr. Descent forwarded this information unto
the Finance meeting; for their information and
action. I checked tr:.e information which I
received and forwarded my recommendations unto
the Public Works Committee.
The following streets were included in Morley
Watson's budget.
Liberty St. from Church St. to
C.P.R. tracks -
091585.00
ChurcYi St. from Division to
Liberty St. -
$2,o96.00
Scugog Fid. from C.P.R. tracks
to Jackman Road -
$2,489.00
Baseline Rd. from Bunt Street
to Martin Road -
$4,800.00
Proposed Mearns Ave. (north
from baseline) -
S 960.00
Six (6) miscellaneous locations -
$ 960.00
Total....
w15,890.00
At the Finance meeting held on November 24, 1975,
the Committee moved tf,at the following streets
be removed from the proposed street lighting
program.

Church Street from Jivision Street to Liberty
Street.
Baseline Road from hunt to Martin Road.
At the Finance meeting held on December 8, 1975
the Committee moved that two intersections be
added to the street lighting program.
Waverly Road and Regional Road 457
Scugog Corner and Regional Road #57 (Ontario
Hydro Corner).
Therefore, the Finance Committee has approved
the following locations for street lights:
Liberty St. from Church St. to C.P.R.

Scugog Rd. from C.P.R.. tracks to
Jackman Road - 12,489.00
Proposed reanrs Ave. (north of Base-
line Road) - $0 960.00
Six (6) Miscellaneous Locations - 960.00
Waverly Road & Regional Rd. 457 - $19000.00
Scugog Road & Regional Rd. #57 - yS1,000.00

At the Public Works meeting held on December 18,
1975, the Committee approved the following loca-
tions:
Scugog Road and Regional Road #57 -
$17000.00
Waverly Rd. & Regional Road #57 -
$1,000.00
Liberty St. from Church. St, to C.P.R.
tracks -
$4,585.00
Baseline Rd., Duke St. to Hunt St.
(5 lights) -
800.00
Waverly Rd. to Martin Rd. (8 lights) -
$1,280.00
Church St., Division St. to Liberty
Street -
$2,096.00
Scugog Rd.-C.P.R. tracks to Jackman
Road -
$2,489.00
Mearns Ave. proposed street -
$ 960.00

Therefore, the two discrepancies which came from
the two different Committee's are Baseline Road
and Church Street.

Therefore, the Committee must decide whether to
accept the. Public Works Committee report or the
Finance Committee's report as to adding or del-
eting the two street in question. If accepting
the Public Works Committee's report the addi-
tional approximate cost would be 449176.00.
Hoping that this resolves any further problems.
Further, I would recommend that a policy to set
as to whether Public Works will be handling street
lights in the future or whether some other commi-
ttee may be handling this affair.
