REPORT TO THE GENERAL PURPOSE AND ADMINISTRATION COMMITTEE MEETING
HELD NOVEMBER 21 1983
ADMIN. 58 - 83
SUBJECT: Follow-up on the Hampton Hall Washroom renovations
RECOMMENDATIONS:
It is respectfully recommended that the General Purpose and Administration
Committee recommend to Council the following:
1. That this report be received; and
2. That staff be authorized to make the necessary arrangements
for the removal or the neutralizing of the old septic
tanks at the Hampton Hall.
BACKGROUND AND COMMENT:
The renovations at the Hampton Hall have now been completed. The consultant
has tendered a letter of clearance and the holdback has now been paid to
the contractor. It should be noted, however, that the original contract
did not include any funds for the disposition of the old septic tanks.
It would be appropriate to remove the tanks and fill the area with sand
and return the land to normal grade or to pump the tanks and fill them
with sand.
There is a residual amount left from the contingency on the Hampton Hall
renovations ($5,900). It would be appropriate given the above noted
circumstances to remove any long term liability by neutralizing
the old tanks either by removing them or filling them with sand.
