HomeMy WebLinkAboutADMIN 58-83CORPORATION OF THE TOWN OF NEWCASTLE 40 TEMPERANCE STREET BOWMANVILLE, ONTARIO LiC3A6 TELEPHONE 623-3379 REPORT TO THE GENERAL PURPOSE AND ADMINISTRATION COMMITTEE MEETING HELD NOVEMBER 21 1983 ADMIN. 58 - 83 SUBJECT: Follow-up on the Hampton Hall Washroom renovations RECOMMENDATIONS: It is respectfully recommended that the General Purpose and Administration Committee recommend to Council the following: 1. That this report be received; and 2. That staff be authorized to make the necessary arrangements for the removal or the neutralizing of the old septic tanks at the Hampton Hall. BACKGROUND AND COMMENT: The renovations at the Hampton Hall have now been completed. The consultant has tendered a letter of clearance and the holdback has now been paid to the contractor. It should be noted, however, that the original contract did not include any funds for the disposition of the old septic tanks. It would be appropriate to remove the tanks and fill the area with sand and return the land to normal grade or to pump the tanks and fill them with sand. There is a residual amount left from the contingency on the Hampton Hall renovations ($5,900). It would be appropriate given the above noted circumstances to remove any long term liability by neutralizing the old tanks either by removing them or filling them with sand.
