HELD NOVEMBER 7 1983

SUBJECT: DURHAM REGIONAL IDENTITY
RECOMMENDATION:
It is respectfully recommended that the General Purpose and Administration
Committee recommend to Council the following:
1. That this report be received;
2. That an attempt to be made in re -ordering letterhead to
standardize the format of such letterhead by all departments;
3. That the Region of Durham logo appear in the lower right hand
corner with a maximum height of three-quarters of an inch and
that the Region be so advised.
BACKGROUND AND COMMENT:
At the October 17th 1983 meeting, the General Purpose and Administration
Committee referred the suggestion of the incorporation of the Regional
logo on our letterhead to staff to review and report back to the
General Purpose and Administration Committee prior to the 1984 budget.
The inclusion of such a reference would strengthen the identity of the
Region, which may be of assistance to both ourselves and the Region in
promoting industrial opportunities.
In reviewing the current situation, I discovered that each Department
had their own letterhead, with very little consistency. It would be
my suggestion that we try to, over time,standardize to a certain degree
the form and nature of letterhead for the Town. If Council adopts the
recommendation to incorporate some reference to the Region of Durham, I
would suggest that it be done as individual departments run out of their
current stock of letterhead and that when re -ordering the letterhead
be standardized.
