REPORT TO THE GENERAL PURPOSE AND ADMINISTRATIVE COMMITTEE
MEETING HELD DECEMBER 13 1982

SUBJECT: SCHEDULE OF MEETINGS 1982 - 1983,
GENERAL PURPOSE AND ADMINISTRATION
COMMITTEE AND COUNCIL
RECOMMENDATIONS:
1. That this report be received; and
2. That the attached schedule of Committee and
Council meetings be adopted by Council; and
3. That copies of the schedule be forwarded to the
Clerk of the Region of Durham, the secretaries of
all local Boards and Commissions and the press and
media for their information.
BACKGROUND AND COMMENT:
The attached schedule of General Purpose and Administration Committee
and Council meetings has been prepared by the Administrator and
reviewed by the Staff Committee.
It is suggested that the G. P. & A. meetings be convened on the first
and third Mondays (or Tuesdays in the case of'statutory holidays) of
each month. G. P. & A. meetings would remain as day meetings with
each member of Council serving as Committee Chairman during their
terms as "Acting Mayor".
Council meetings would be convened on the second and fourth Mondays of.
each month (Tuesday in the case of statutory holidays) with the fourth
Monday being an evening meeting.
Acting Mayors as outlined in By -Law 82-176 passed at the Inaugural
Meeting of the 1982 - 1985 Town Council will hold office for a two
month period.

Some months in 1983 include five Mondays, in such cases, a meeting
of Council could be convened at the call of the Chair.
By circulating the schedule of meetings to the Boards and Commissions
etc. it is hoped that some "last minute" requests for Council approvals
can be avoided.
