REPORT TO THE GENERAL PURPOSE AND ADMINISTRATION COMMITTEE
HELD SEPTEMBER 27 1982

SUBJECT: DONATION TO THE CANADIAN CANCER SOCIETY OR
TO THE TERRY FOX MARATHON OF HOPE
RECOMMENDATIONS:
1. That this report be received; and
2. That Council donate the $300.00 received from
Glen -Warren Productions Ltd. to the Canadian
Cancer Society, c/o the Local Society branch; or
3. That failing (2) above, that Council donate the
$300.00 received from Glen -Warren Productions Ltd.
to the Terry Fox Marathon of Hope, c/o the Local
Cancer Society branch; or
4. Failing (2) and (3) above, that Council donate the
$300.00 received from Glen -Warren Productions Ltd.
to an appropriate charity.

BACKGROUND AND COMMENT:

The matter of donating the donation from Glen -Warren Productions Ltd.
was discussed at the last General Purpose and Administration Committee
meeting and referred to staff for further information.
Staff have contacted the Ontario Branch of the Canadian Cancer Society
and are advised that a donation may be made to the Terry Fox Marathon
of Hope, which as a distinct fund from the Canadian Cancer Society, will
use the money to support Cancer Research primarily in Canada. A cheque
made payable to the Terry Fox Marathon of Hope may be forwarded to
the local branch of the Canadian Cancer Society.
If a donation is made to the Canadian Cancer Society, again through the
local Society Branch, then the money will be used to support the operations
of the Society in Ontario; patient care, counselling, research, etc.

to another suitable charity.
