1. That this report be received; and
2. That Council consider advising Mr.R. McMaster and Mr. A. Wotten
that Council and staff have no knowledge of what information
J. P. McMillan has in his possession, and, if any, how it
was obtained.
BACKGROUND AND COMMENT:
As members of Council will recall, Mr. R. McMaster appeared before
Council on February 15 1982 on behalf of Mr. A. Wotten, in respect
of a letter printed in The Oshawa Times, on February 11 1982.
The letter over the signature of J. P. McMillan makes reference
to an auditors' report to the Town of Newcastle, dated November 12 1981.
The auditors' report has been received "in -camera", and is considered
a confidential item. Mr. McMillan does, in fact, quote from the
auditors' report.
Staff have no knowlege of what information Mr. McMillan may have in his
possession, and, if any, how it might have been obtained. Staff have
not circulated any confidential material to the public.
