REPORT TO THE SPECIAL COUNCIL MEETING AUGUST 21, 1981

SUBJECT: Attached Correspondence from the Newcastle
Chamber of Commerce in respect of Oktoberfest
RECOMMENDATIONS:
It is respectfully recommended that:
1. This Report be received; and
2. The request from the Newcastle Chamber of Commerce
be approved; and
3. Mr. J. D. MacGregor, on behalf of the Newcastle
and District Chamber of Commerce, be advised of
Council's resolution.
BACKGROUND:
The attached correspondence was received on August 13,
1981 and referred to staff for inclusion in the Agenda of the Special
Meeting of Council scheduled for August 21, 1981.
The Administrator and the Director of Community Services
have discussed this matter and have no objections to Council's approvalf

of the Chamber of Commerce request. The Director of Community Ser-
vices has noted that these requests have been approved in previous
years.. It is therefore respectfully recommended that the request be
approved by Council and the above -noted recommendation accepted.

The Newcastle Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring their
annual Oktoberfest on Saturday September 19, 1981 at the
Town Hall. The set-up and location will be identical to last
year. The L.L.B.O. requires we forward to them a copy of
Councils resolution approving of same.
Would you be so kind as to place this matter before Council
as soon as possible as we must deliver same to the L.L.B.O. prior
to their issuing a licence.
