MINUTES Moved by J. Gales, seconded by G. Weir THAT the minutes of the meeting held on February 19, 2015 be approved. CARRIED Moved by L. Creamer seconded by G. Wier THAT the minutes of the meeting held on March 26, 2015 be approved. 2. BUSINESS ARISING FROM PREVIOUS MEETING a) Faciliated Meeting Pastor J. Wildeboer asked the committee what they think makes for a good meeting? The committee indicated that participation, interaction, structure, deliverables, and commitment are important. Pastor J. Wildeboer added that every group can have central conflicts, either postivice or negative, which attracts attendance at meetings. The goal of the committee is to focus on key objectives and the possibility to achieve desired goals. The committee continued to work through several activities lead by the facilitator, Pastor J. Wildeboer, which assisted in narrowing the scope of the keys areas of focus. Clarington Safe - 2 - April 16, 2015 Communities Committee b) Community Clean -Up Da C. Newman advised the committee that he Community Clean -Up Day will be taking place Saturday, May 9, 2015.The areas of focus will be; Valleys 2000, North and South of the fish ladder, and the down town business area.. The committee is asking that volunteers to show up at 9:30AM to get signed in. There will be a short safety presentation from a member of the DRPS. C. Newman has arranged with the Clarington Operations Department to have gloves and bags provided. C. Newmas has corrordinated barbeque supplies and food. L.Creamer will provide large arial maps for the clean-up areas and work with J. Wildeboer to set areas of focus. The committee was asked to reach out to all contacts and get as many volunteers as possible. G Weir will reach out to Basia Radomski, Corporate Communications Officer, to help advertise on twitter and facebook. G. Weir also suggested that the committee to invite the newspapers. 3. NEW BUSINESS a) Graffiti Initiative The Region of Durham has approved a location for a graffiti mural on Highway 2, Courtice. The committee will consider launching this initiative moving forward. M. Wind discussed the possibility of creating a subcommittee that focuses soley on this initiative. The committee discussed ideas on how to create a competition, asking artists to submit their designs, and having a judging panel determine a winner. The committee discussed asking the Visual Arts Center to participate. Committee memebers were asked to bring any ideas forward at the next meeting 4. OTHER BUSINESS 5. DATE OF NEXT MEETING The next meeting is scheduled to be held on May 21, 2015, in Meeting Room 1A at 3:00 PM 6. ADJOURNMENT Moved by L. Creamer, seconded by Wind THAT the meeting adjourn at 4:46 P.M.
