Mayor Foster outlined the history of the Clarington Safe Communities Committee and its past achievements. He asked "what is our purpose and what do we want to accomplish?" Pastor J. Wildeboer proceeded to move forward with the facilitation process and helped focus the discussion on the public perception of the municipality, in particular, the feelings of unease and lack of safety on the part of some citizens. The committee discussed many factors that could cause citizens to feel unsafe. Each member was asked what category they would fit in from the choices below.
