1. MINUTES
Moved by J. Gales, seconded by R. Kluem
THAT the minutes of the meeting held on November 20, 2014 be approved.

2. BUSINESS ARISING FROM PREVIOUS MEETING
a) Parachute Safe Communities
C. Newman advised the committee that we are still considering moving forward
with the Parachute Presentation. The committee is aiming to coordinate a date in
April, 2015, with an evening start time of 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M.
b) Facilitated Meeti
Pastor John Wildeboer will be facilitating the next Clarington Safe Communities
meeting, March 26, 2015. The committee is trying to identify three or four
achievable goals for the group to focus on for the remainder of the year.
d) Community Clean -Up Day
The committee discussed ideas on how to engage residents to participate in
discussion regarding issues Clarington is facing. The committee discussed
hosting a facilitated meeting where a large group of residents would be broken
into smaller groups to focus on tasks specific to their interests and expertise on
topics including but not limited to; bullying, home safety, senior fraud, self -harm,
and good choices.
3. NEW BUSINESS
a) Community Clean -Up Day
The community clean-up day will take place on Saturday, May 9, 2015. The clean-
up will take place between 10:OOAM — 1:OOPM with a barbeque to follow. C.
Newman will reach out to potential sponsors for the event. Pastor J. Wildeboer will
pass on information to his group regarding the scheduled clean-up day.
C.Newman will contact the Communications team regarding the clean-up day
posters.

THAT the May 9. 2015 community clean-up day be approved.

4. OTHER BUSINESS
R. Kluem provided a Durham Regional Police Service update regarding, Safe
Roads, Community Patrol Plan. The Patrol Plan lists the top 20 high risk
intersections in Durham. The Municipality of Clarington, did not get listed in this
report.
Construction of the new police station in Bowmanville is on time and expects that
work will be completed in June or July, with staff transitioning to the new building
in the fall.
5. DATE OF NEXT MEETING
The next meeting is scheduled to be held on March 26, 2015, in Meeting Room
1 C at 3:00 PM
