RE: Hiring of Secretary, Department
of Planning and Development
RECO14MENDATIONS:
It is recommended that:

1. This report be received; and
2. That Mrs. L. Day be confirmed in the position
of Secretary, Planning and Development
Department; and
3. That the attached by-law be adopted giving
effect to the above.
BACKGROUND
AND COMMENT:
As members of Council are aware, the position of Secretary,
Department of Planning and Development (Confidential) has recently
been established and advertised internally and externally.
As a result of the competition, no internal applications
were received, and approximately 70 persons applied as a result of
the newspaper circulation.
Staff interviewed eight persons on October 5 1981 and have
tentatively offered the position to Mrs. L. Day.
Mrs. Day has considerable business experience in several
positions, most recently as Secretary to the Associate Dean of
Osgoode Hall Law School. Mrs. Day has excellent references and is
avail le to start with the Town immediately.
