SUBJECT: Building Equipment Maintenance Contract
RECOMMENDATION:
1. That this report be received; and
2. That Council adopt a by-law authorizing the
execution of an Agreement with Harvey Partner
Ltd., for the undertaking of building equipment
maintenance services in selected municipal buildings
for the period December 1 1981 to November 30 1982,
at a total amount not to exceed $4,774.00.
BACKGROUND AND COMMENT:
As members of the Committee are aware, the Town has recently
terminated its contract with M. C. C. Powers Ltd. for
building equipment maintenance services in municipal buildings.
That contract, expiring as of December lst 1981, would now
be appropriately replaced with a similar contract.
As members of Council are aware, the Town advertised for
proposals for undertaking this work in the early part of
October 1981. As a result of this advertisement, two proposals
were submitted, one from Harvey Partner Ltd. and the other
from Beaver Engineering Limited. Copies of these submissions
are attached.
Beaver Engineering submitted a two part proposal. One, being
a scheme whereby they, with local firms, would undertake the
work, and second, being a scheme whereby they undertook all
the work.

Harvey Partner Ltd.'s submission was to undertake maintenance
services on all of the specified buildings, a list is attached,
and was below the comparable bid from Beaver Engineering Limited.
The Administrator has reviewed these proposals and at this
time feels it would be appropriate to award the contract to
Harvey Partner Ltd. on the basis that his submission is below
the comparable submission from Beaver Engineering Limited
and on the basis that he would be solely responsible to the
Corporation for undertaking the work.

In the event of internal break downs ,
circulator impeller, seals , cortbustation chamber , compressors, water
piping , radiators . leaks-inwater or heating pipes , fan on air
changers , filter racks , air grills the contractor shall notify the
pwner and shall do the work at a agroed price or time and matorial basis .
The contractor carries one million dollar
liability insurance , the owner shall be responsible for any amount
exceeding that amount.
The contractor shall report any major repairs to
the director of planning or his representive before proceeding what is
not considered ane:.emaaegcy .
The contractor agrees to do the above for the
sum of four thousand ,zavgA/hundred seventy-four dollars , Payable
