A By.-Law to form and organize "The
Board of education for the Town of Bowmanville. "
WHEREAS the Council of the ,Town of Bowman:ville did
:
on or about the 13th day of September , 1938 , at a meeting called
for that purpose , declare by resolution that it was expedient
to form a Board of Education .under The Boards of Education
Act and being Chapter 361 of The Rev sed Statutes of Ontario
1937 , for the purpose of establishing and maintaining one or
more public and high schools i.n . the municipality.
AND "AMEA.S the said Council did at the next . succeeding
f;. ,municipal election submit to the vote of the electors the .
question ,"Are you in favour of a Municipal Board of Education"
AM VHEMS the .said question was answered in the ;
7 affirmative by a majority of the electors voting thereon.

1. The Board of Ednoat ion. , of; the Town: of Bowmanville ;
shall' be or anized ''in accordance with , the. said, The Boards of �
ucat i on Act and all the ro ert here' tof ore vested in, the
High School Board and the Public School Board shall become 3
vested in the said Board of Education and all the debts ,
contracts and 'agreenents for which the said High School and
. Public School, Boards were respectively liable shall b,ecome'
obligations of the , said ' Board of education.
2 . The said Board of Education shall consist of the
number of members , elected and appointed , as set out in the

36 The four elected members who received the hIghest
number of votes shall continue in office for two - years
thereafter and until their successors are elected and the
new . Board i s organized , , and the remaining members shall
continue in office for one year and until their successors
are elected and the new Board is organized .
40 Where two or more members receive an equal number of
votes - at the first election , or where, the full number of
umembers to be . elected are elected by acclamation, at the first
meeting of the' ' said Board the secretary thereof shall
determine' by lot the four members who shall be declared
