1.CALL TO ORDER
The meeting was called to order by Councillor Robinson in the absence of the Chair at
7:05 p.m. New board member W. Tanner was welcomed to the Museum board.
2.ADOPTION OF AGENDA
Moved by: J. Rook Seconded by: B. Colville
THAT the agenda be approved.
MOTION CARRIED
3.ADOPTION OF MINUTES
Moved by: S. Laing Seconded by: P. Ford
THAT the Minutes of the May 9, 2007 Board Meeting be approved.
MOTION CARRIED
4.BUSINESS ARISING
As a resignation had been received from J. Richards, Property Chair of the Board
of Directors of the Clarington Museums and Archives, nominations were held for
this position from among the Board members.
Moved by: S. Laing Seconded by: P. Ford
THAT J. Rook become the Property Chair.
MOTION CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY
No other nominations being brought forward, Mr. Rook accepted the position.
5.CORRESPONDENCE
The Administrator circulated a note received from Janet Jury who recently visited
the Bowmanville Museum, home of her grandfather. She was happy to see that
the house she remembered so well appeared much the same as she remembered it
and stated that she would like to return in the future.

THAT the correspondence be received.

6. COMMITTEE REPORTS
a)Finance Committee:
The Finance Chair discussed the report with the members.

THAT the Finance Committee report be received.

7. ADMINISTRATOR’S REPORT
The Administrator’s Report was discussed. There are many events taking place
including the 175 celebrations for Orono June 29 – July 1 in Orono. As well, the
Bowmanville Museum is celebrating annual Canada Day in Bowmanville. The
Administrator asked for as many board members as possible to attend Canada
Day.
The Mayor suggested that something might be put together with the doll
collection that the Museum has, possibly at the booth at the C.N.E.
The Victorian teas at the Bowmanville Museum will be held twice weekly this
year.
The Administrator requested two executive members of the Board and one other
Board member to attend the interviews for the new part time position.

THAT the Administrator’s Report be received.

8.NEW BUSINESS
The Alfie Shrubb run was discussed. The Mayor suggested a letter be sent to Al
Storey advising him of the changes that were being made. It was suggested that
the board acknowledge Charles’ run this year, perhaps a certificate could be made
out and presented to Charles on July 1.
W. Tanner advised the board that the British flag hanging in the school house was
upside down.
The Administrator advised that she would be taking vacation the last two weeks
in July and that someone would be designated to act in her absence.
Councillor Robinson thanked the Administrator for her contributions to the 175
celebrations in Orono.
9.DATE AND PLACE OF NEXT BOARD MEETING
The next board meeting of the Clarington Museums and Archives will be held
August 8, 2007Sarah Jane Williams Heritage Centre,
at the beginning at
7:00 p.m.
10. ADJOURNMENT

THAT the meeting adjourn at 8:30 p.m. at which time the Board members
conducted a walk-around the Clarke Museum.
