BY-LAW 99-139
Being a By-law to designate an area in the
Bowmanville Central Business District as an
Improvement Area and to establish a Board
of Management for the Bowmanville Central
Business Improvement Area and to amend
By-law No. 85-61, By-law No. 84-17 and
By-law No. 77-33 of the former Town of
Newcastle
WHEREAS The Council of the Corporation of the former Town of Newcastle passed
By-law 77-33 on the 16th day of May 1977;
AND WHEREAS the Council of the Corporation of the former Town of Newcastle passed
By-law 84-17 and the 13th day of February 1984, authorizing an increase in the annual
budget of the Bowmanville Central Business District;
AND WHEREAS the Council of the Corporation of the former Town of Newcastle passed
By-law 85-61 amending By-law 77-33 to provide that Council shall not approve any
estimates submitted in an annual budget of the Board in excess of the sum of
$60,000.00;
AND WHEREAS the Council of the Corporation of the Municipality of Clarington deems
it advisable to further amend By-law 77-33, as amended, by By-law 84-17 and
By-law 85-61;
NOW THEREFORE THE COUNCIL OF THE CORPORATION OF THE MUNICIPALITY
OF CLARINGTON HEREBY ENACTS AS FOLLOWS:
1. THAT Section 16 of the By-law 77-33 as amended by By-law 84-17
and By-law 85-61 be deleted in its entirety and replaced with the following:
16. Annual estimates for the Bowmanville Central Business Improvement Area will
be included in the Municipality's budget by-law and approved by Council
on an annual basis.
2. This by-law shall come into force and take effect on the day of enactment.
By-law read a first and second time this 13th day of September 1999.
By-law read a third time and finally passed this 13th day of September 1999.
