SUBJECT: PAY INCREASE - SCHOOL CROSSING GUARDS
RECOMh1ENDATIONS:
It is respectfully recommended that the General Purpose and Administration
Committee recommend to Council the following:
(1) THAT this report be received and,
(2) THAT the School Crossing Guards be granted a pay increase of 4.5%; and,
(3) THAT the increase be implemented for pay period #20, October 1, 1987.
BACKGROUND AND COMMENT:
Pursuant to Town Policy that the matter of Crossing Guard compensation be addressed during
the summer school break, it is now recommended that the Crossing Guards be granted an
increase of 4.5% for the school term commencing September 8, 1987. In terms of figures,
such increase would raise salaries to $141.96 bi-weekly from the present rate of $135.85.
By way of comparison, the City of Oshawa currently compensates guards at a rate of $160.31
bi-weekly, 1986 rate. The necessary funds are currently available in account #7240-00000-0006
