CONTROLLED PARKING - BOWMANVILLE
COMMERCIAL AREA
It is respectfully recommended that Council approve the following:
1. That Report CD-28-87 be received; and
2. That the fines rate be established at $3.00 for each offence; and
3. That the by-law attached establishing a revised fees and fines structure for
the Bowmanville Urban Area be enacted by Council.
BACKGROUND AND COMMENT:
On April 13th 1987, Council approved a number of revisions to the Parking Program
for the Bowmanville Commercial Area. So that staff can proceed with the implementation
of the recommendations contained in Report CD-25-86, it is necessary to amend By-law
79-1, which regulates parking, to give effect to the recommendations relating to
hourly parking fees, monthly parking fees, and the fines structure attendant thereto.
Members of Council will recall that the fines for parking violations are set at
$2.00. Within the body of Report CD-25-86 under the heading "CONCLUSION": item (c)
recommended "that a new fines rate be established at $3.00 for each offence." It
is appropriate that the revised fines structure be approved at this time.
