SUBJECT: ENFORCEMENT OF PARKING BY-LAWS, TOWN OF NEWCASTLE
RECOMMENDATIONS:
It is respectfully recommended that the General Purpose and Administration
Committee receive Report CD-46-85 for information.
BACKGROUND AND COMMENT:
At the meeting of the General Purpose and Administration Committee
of September 16, 1985, the following resolution was passed:
"That staff prepare a report for the
next General Purpose and Administration
Committee Meeting, on what is being
done to enforce our parking by-law
across the municipality."
By-law 79-1 and the amendments thereto, detail the method of enforcement
and the amount of time vehicles may be parked in various areas of the
municipality. As well, the by-law identifies certain streets as having
restricted or prohibited parking areas.
Specifically, parking is enforced by a parking enforcement officer in the
metered parking areas of the commercial core of Bowmanville. All other
parts of the municipality are patrolled by Durham Regional Police.
