CD-46-85 - File: 77.34.99. i U~' ICaS TELEPHONE 623-3379 SUBJECT: ENFORCEMENT OF PARKING BY-LAWS, TOWN OF NEWCASTLE RECOMMENDATIONS: It is respectfully recommended that the General Purpose and Administration Committee receive Report CD-46-85 for information. BACKGROUND AND COMMENT: At the meeting of the General Purpose and Administration Committee of September 16, 1985, the following resolution was passed: "That staff prepare a report for the next General Purpose and Administration Committee Meeting, on what is being done to enforce our parking by-law across the municipality." By-law 79-1 and the amendments thereto, detail the method of enforcement and the amount of time vehicles may be parked in various areas of the municipality. As well, the by-law identifies certain streets as having restricted or prohibited parking areas. Specifically, parking is enforced by a parking enforcement officer in the metered parking areas of the commercial core of Bowmanville. All other parts of the municipality are patrolled by Durham Regional Police. Continued ...../2 C4-46-85 -2- October 7, 1985 VL~ ~~ I have been advised, that when problems outside the Bowmanville commercial area relating to traffic and parking, or both, are brought to the attention of the Staff Sergeant at Number 16 Division, Bowmanville, they will be dealt with.
