ROLL CALL Present: Kathleen Blundell, Chair John Stoner, Vice Chair Laurie Davis, Durham Animal Adoption Sheila Elkington, Sr. Animal Services Officer Councillor Adrian Foster Julie Price Marie Knight Stanley, Deputy Clerk Candice Doiron, Secretary Absent: Charmaine Dunn Byron Rehder Rep from Bowmanville Vet Clinic Marie Knight Stanley Chaired this portion of the meeting. 1. ADOPTION OF MINUTES Moved by John Stoner, seconded by Julie Price THAT the Minutes of the Animal Advisory Committee for the meeting of April 21, 2004, be approved. “CARRIED” 2. PRESENTATION Renae Barlow, Pet Lynx, North America’s Pet Identification & Recovery Kit made a power point presentation Via telephone from Calgary, Alberta. Overview: ? one place to record all kinds of animal identification information ? CFHS has partnered with Petlynx to be the place to connect animal information across the country ? lost and found service Animal Advisory Committee -2- June 9, 2004 ? shelter management system streamlines your shelter, foster homes, branch operations ? remote access in real time within your organization ? instant reports in real time ? there are 30 shelters and 75 vets within Ontario that is hooked up to this program ? people can put their lost animal on the lost and found for four days free of charge ? this internet system will never crash Benefits to animal owners: ? on line place for all information on animal ? anywhere anytime emergency information ? complete history of animal ? automatically signed up with the lost and found Benefit for the shelter: ? again complete animal information ? post adoption ? always named as stakeholder if animal transferred or lost ? tracking of animal owner history no matter where they have been adopted ? track where animals have been rescued from ? track individual’s who are rescuing ? volunteers show up as stakeholders Cost of PetLynx SuperNet ? for shelter the cost would be $240.00 and $50.00 per year for animal track ? it is a Industry Neutral Identity Agnostic ? you can use any ID source, supplier or brand that holds the key to successful animal identification 3. CHAIR AND VICE-CHAIR The results of the election for Chair and Vice Chair are as follows: Moved by John Stoner, seconded by Julie Price THAT Kathleen Blundell be elected as Chair. “CARRIED” Animal Advisory Committee -3- June 9, 2004 Moved by Julie Price, seconded by Laurie Davis THAT John Stoner be elected as Vice Chair. “CARRIED” Kathleen Blundell chaired this portion of the meeting 4. OTHER BUSINESS Marie hopes to present a draft copy of the new and improved Kennel By-law at the next meeting to be held on September 8, 2004. She requested input from Member of the Committee towards the formulation of the new by-law. Sheila Elkington brought to the attention of the Committee that July 24, 2004 is Clarington Fun Day. She is looking for volunteers to help out that day with the Clarington Animal Services Booth. Marie suggested that if any Members of the Committee would like an item placed on the agenda for the meeting of September 8, 2004, please email her by September 1, 2004. 5.
