Minutes of a meeting of the Animal Advisory Committee
held on Wednesday, February 13, 2002 at 2:00 p.m. at the Animal
Shelter

Nick VanSeggelen chaired the meeting
1. ADOPTION OF MINUTES -
No quorum to approve minutes of January 15, 2002. Will be approved at the
March 12, 2002 meeting.
2. PROHIBITING USE OF ANIMAL SHOWS NOT ACCREDITED BY CAZA
Reviewed letter to be forwarded to Council on February 25th for Council approval.
3. OTHER BUSINESS
- Dr. Mingram was getting information regarding Microchip Clinic. Will put
on agenda for next meeting. Sheila will discuss her findings as well at the
next meeting.
- Nick handed out handbook regarding procedures for pet visitations in
nursing homes. Will copy for members for next meeting.

- Sheila circulated Rabies Immunization Regulation report from Durham
Regional Health. Discussion was held regarding rabies vaccine being
good for 3 years.
- Week of May 1St is Responsible Pet Ownership Week. Ideas such as an
open house, colouring contest was mentioned. Everyone to think of ideas
and bring to next meeting.

Staff received cheque for $500.00 for participating in picture with Santa
i
fundraiser thru Pet Smart. Sheila suggested having our own picture with
Santa day. Nick looking into how much it would cost to have a Santa suit
made. Donna will check with Social Committee to see if they have one.
Dr. Holt suggested having other theme picture days as well. Easter,
Halloween, Valentines Day etc.
4. ADJOURNMENT
The meeting adjourned at 3:00 p.m.
