HomeMy WebLinkAbout2001-09-11 Minutes COUNCIL INFORMATION _. _ PH ANIMAL ADVISORY COMMITTEE Minutes of a meeting of the Animal Advisory Committee held on Tuesday, September 11, 2001 at 2:00 p.m. in the Ante Room ROLL CALL Present Were: Laurie Davis, Durham Animal Adoption Sheila Elkington, Sr. Animal Services Officer Peter Klose, Animal Cat World Councillor Don MacArthur Dr. Bill Mingram Tara Stocker Nick VanSeggelen Donna MacKay, Secretary Absent Were: Dr. Julia Holt Colleen Cochrane Marie Knight Stanley Nick VanSeggelen chaired the meeting . 1. ADOPTION OF MINUTES Moved by Tara Stocker, seconded by Laurie Davis That the minutes of the regular meeting of the Animal Advisory Committee held on June 13, 2001 be approved. "CARRIED" 2. REPORT CLD-009-01 — ORDER TO RESTRAIN Committee reviewed report— Sheila gave brief review as to why the report was necessary and Committee was in favour. Dr. Mingram questioned how public find out if a particular neighbour's dog has been declared vicious;.. 3. REPORT CLD-010-01 — DOG BITE PREVENTION PROGRAM'';`. Committee reviewed pamphlet and agreed with the program a,tjjuq, (, vise is the cost to have pamphlets printed up. d4?5T Animal Advisory Committee - 2 , September 11, 2001 4. PETSMART JUNE 22-23 Petsmart was not promoted this year and was not attended by Animal Services. 5. SCHEDULE OF MEETINGS A schedule of meetings was prepared and attached for the ease of reference of all committee members. 6. UNFINISHED BUSINESS Peter Klose circulated an e-mail from Zoo Check with suggestions of animals to add to our Exotic Pet By-law. Zoo Check after reviewing the Municipality of Clarington's Exotic Pet By-law felt the by-law was excellent. Donna to make copies of the Exotic Pet By-law for committee members for next meeting. 7. OTHER BUSINESS Sheila pointed out the article in paper regarding the Animal Shelter. Was an excellent article showing our Shelter and staff#1 in the area. Tara circulated another Article Bill 97 to committee. 8.
